The addition of reinforcements (glass and carbon fibers), enhance the mechanical properties of most thermoplastic base resins. Increases in tensile, flexural, and compressive strengths can be expected, as well as increases in stiffness. One drawback to the addition of reinforcements is, most often, a decrease in impact strength and ductility.
