SCIENCE LAB ON WHEELS ROLLS UP TO BONNY DOON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Local students learned a lot about a material that affects their lives in many little ways, thanks to a visit by the Plasti-Van, a hands-on polymer science lab on wheels. PLASCO INC. and CONCEPTS 2 INDUSTRIES sponsored a visit by the van to Bonny Doon Elementary School on March 7th 1997.

The van brings fun and educational science programs to kids grades 4-12. Students learn about plastics and chemistry through hands-on experiments like making slime and testing the strength of plastic bags.

"The van helps educate students about chemistry and raises their environmental awareness with a program that's amusing and informative" said Michael LoDico. "By helping bring the van to our local schools, PLASCO and CONCEPTS 2 is opening the doors to the world of science".

The Plasti-Van was developed by the National Plastics Center and Museum in Leominster, Mass., to bring its unique polymer science lab programs to students around the country.

PLASCO and CONCEPTS 2, through the Society of Plastics Industry, Inc.'s (SPI), Community Involvement program sponsored the van's visit to Bonny Doon.

Michael LoDico said the sponsorship is part of their commitment to being a good neighbor in the community.

"We hope that by helping further science education in the community we not only foster an understanding of our products and their environmental performance, but help students understand the role of science and plastics plays in their daily lives," Michael LoDico said.
